Women are better with test for Business English than men
(openPR) - the language test developer ETS analyzes each year the profile of all test participants
Berlin, 13 February 2007 - world-wide tested 2005 more men than Mrs. their Business English knowledge. However the female participants with 526 points cut both in the hearing and in the read understanding better as the male fellow combatants off with 488 points. To this result the study came „TOEIC report on test Takers Worldwide (2005) “of the language test developer and the Nonprofitinstitution ETS, which examines each year the profiles of all TOEIC Testkandidaten world-wide. The study is based on the data of 1.266.950 that world-wide altogether 4.5 million graduate of the test for Business English.
With 65 per cent clearly more male than female candidates participated in the test for Business English. This result was affected substantially by the numbers from the countries Japan and Korea. There were male according to 64 and 80 per cent of all participants. In other countries the sex relationship was as far as possible balanced, with exception of the Phillipinen. There the women dominated with 78 per cent. Tendentious the female participants were younger than their male fellow combatants. The predominant age of all test participants was under 25 years (women with 68 per cent and men with 38 per cent).
Generally it could be stated that the majority of the participants with 82 per cent possessed the university-level graduation or briefly before their conclusion. More than half (54 per cent) of all examining was firmly employed, while studied 38 per cent. From the candidates, who stood in the working life, positions in more leading and 20 per cent in non conductive position occupied 35 per cent. The remaining 45 per cent were in other positions busy.
The leadership level consisted with the majority of 88 per cent of male candidates.

In this report also the question catalogs used for the data acquisition are contained. The reports of preceding years for the comparison of the development, for example the number of German test participants from 2004 to 2005 rose by 28,5 per cent, stands under www.ets.org.
Note to the study
The data basis the anonymous data of 1.266.950 form for that altogether 4.5 million graduates of the TOEIC test to education background, job experiences, language's application and learning duration. The report does not only inform about it, of which ranges and social groups the candidates consist world-wide, but also which factors the English learning affects.
To consider is that the homeland of a test candidate is not necessarily also the country, in which the test was completed. To Germany it applies that 91 per cent of the test participants from Germany came. In other countries, like for example in Canada, the results of this study indicate not necessarily the English knowledge of an entire nation.

Over the TOEIC® test (TEST OF ENGLISH FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION™)
The TOEIC is an internationally recognized standard for the measurement of the English language level of non--native speakers in the business surrounding field. The test is available world-wide in approx. 60 countries. It measures the language authority of the candidates on the basis a remaining constant numeric scale of 10 to 990 points and not by „a passport or fail “- system.
